By now we’ve all discussed those songs brides & grooms often choose that sound like they are love songs but really are about anything but (Whitney’s I Will Always Love You- a breakup, Every Breathe You Take- a stalker, Nothing Compares 2 U – another breakup song.)   Then there’s plenty songs that you just know are bad ideas for weddings: D-I-V-O-R-C-E  by Tammy Wynette, 50 Ways to Leave your Lover  by Paul Simon, etc. (Wedding Wire has a great top 20 countdown of these songs here.)
We thought we’d take it one step further, below are two REAL very
inappropriate requests we’ve had over the years that in our book really take the cake:  There was one groom who really wanted to hear Jason Boland and the Stragglers’ “Rich, Young, Dumb, Nymphomaniac;” which, as you’d probably guess, is one of the most explicit songs ever written.  We’re not sure if he really thought this would impress his bride’s family or not.  And the king of all inappropriate requests came from another groom who not only wanted to hear, but actually wanted to sing the Tenacious D ballad “F#$% Her Gently” to his bride.   While acoustic ballads have their place at wedding receptions, this took it to a whole new level.  We were luckily able to talk this particular groom out of this idea….

What inappropriateness have you heard at weddings lately?
